Fort
Davis Ride and
Big Bend Hike and Bike - September 20-23
2008
“Cyclefest is arguably the
best and most scenic Bike Tour in the state of
Texas with beautiful vistas, easy
novice routes and challenging hills. Cyclefest is a "must do" for every
cyclist. The annual Cyclefest Bike Tour and Hill Climb is held in the scenic
"Texas Alps" of West Texas in
Fort Davis,
Texas. The Tour provides varying
distance routes from 10, 25, 55 and 75 miles. The event is staged at the
historic Prude Ranch in
Fort
Davis.

We’ll ride in
Fort
Davis Saturday morning,
have dinner together that evening and then on Sunday, only the brave souls
will ride the 7 mile race up the mountain while the rest of us cheer them
on. You’re on your own to drive to
Big Bend
National Park (about 2 hours) and
rendezvous at the historic Gage Hotel in
Marathon.
http://gagehotel.com/ . We’ll try to do a
short hike that evening before dinner. The next morning, the group will
divide into those that want to hike and those that want to
bike. We'll gather after our morning activity for a wonderful picnic in the
park. The next day is an all group hike to the “window” or other great
location. We’ll try to have at least one dinner at the famous Gage Hotel's
Cafe Cenizo “set within a beautiful courtyard with both outdoor and indoor
fireplaces, offers a level of service, quality and ambiance unsurpassed in
West Texas.”
